COURSE DESCRIPTION

The three-week practicum, an intensive grammar course intended to immerse students in the French language and culture and provide a “jump start” for the semester of study in Paris, includes daily class sessions that meet from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Monday through Thursday. Each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon there will be an excursion to an area of Paris that you are unlikely to think to visit on your own.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

• Provide you with an intense review of grammar and vocabulary in French.
• Introduce you to new grammatical concepts as well as terms and phrases that will be particularly useful to you in everyday life in France .
• Familiarize you with different sections of Paris , including monuments, museums, and quartiers that you are not likely to visit as a tourist. The biweekly afternoon excursions will give you an opportunity to become acquainted with the city, its transportation system, and various aspects of its history and current make-up.
